Teaching
Caroline’s infectious enthusiasm gives students a way into the wonderful world of music and in particular recorder playing.
Caroline has a rigorous understanding of recorder technique and is deeply musical. Her teaching style leads her to give information in a light and clear manner which ensures all students build their techniques on secure foundations and musical knowledge.
Caroline gained BA (Hons), LTCL, ABSM and LWCMD whilst studying at Royal Birmingham Conservatoire and Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. Teaching beginners, rusty and advanced students for over thirty years, she has an enviable 99.9% pass rate in Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) exams with most students attaining high merits and distinctions.
Caroline has taught undergraduate diplomas for Coventry University, further education for Birmingham and Warwick Universities, diplomas for Warwickshire College and beginners to diploma for Rugby Music Centre with students aged 8-18 years. She also taught recorder for thirteen years at Eastlands Primary School and five years at Baverstock Comprehensive School, Birmingham.
Caroline loves the challenge of building on each student’s strengths and enabling them to enjoy making music to the best of their ability. Caroline teaches in person and via Zoom. She equally enjoys teaching people of all ages, frequently having a ninety-year span of ages amongst her students.
